Design and Build
The Improvedhand AP-1512HH filter pack includes two main filters and six activated carbon filters. The main filter is constructed using precision weaving and curing of micron-level fibers, which are then compressed into a dense waveform. This design aims to capture a high percentage of airborne particles while maintaining low wind resistance. The activated carbon filters are made from sintered powdered coconut shell carbon, providing a large internal surface area (500–1500 square meters per gram) to adsorb volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and odors from smoking, cooking, and pets.
It is important to note that this replacement pack does not include the washable pre-filter. The pre-filter is a separate component that you should already have from your original Coway unit. The main filter slides into the purifier easily, and no tools are required for installation. The build quality appears solid based on owner feedback, with many noting that the filters fit perfectly without gaps or air leaks.
Performance and Features
Filtration Efficiency
The main filter carries a MERV 13 rating, which means it is designed to capture at least 90% of particles in the 0.3–1.0 micron range. This includes common allergens such as dust, pollen, mold spores, and pet dander. The activated carbon filters add odor and VOC reduction, making this a comprehensive two-stage filtration system. The manufacturer states that the high-density, low-wind-resistance structure captures almost all airborne substances, though specific CADR or particle size efficiency percentages are not provided.
Compatibility
This filter is explicitly compatible with Coway Airmega 200M series models: AP-1512HH, AP-1512HH-FP, AP-1518R, and AP-1519P. It replaces part number 3304899. Owners of these models report that the Improvedhand filter fits exactly as the original, with no modifications needed. The filter mounting type is slide-in, matching the original design.
Value Package
The pack includes two main filters and six activated carbon filters, which should provide multiple replacement cycles. The manufacturer recommends replacing the filter every 6 to 8 months, depending on usage and environment. With two main filters, you can cover up to 16 months of use. The carbon filters are also included in generous quantity, ensuring you have spares on hand.
Maintenance and Running Costs
Maintenance is straightforward. The washable pre-filter (not included) should be cleaned periodically according to your Coway purifier’s manual. The main filter and carbon filters are disposable and can be replaced every 6 to 8 months. No tools are required; you simply slide out the old filters and slide in the new ones. The exact cost per filter is not listed, but as a non-OEM option, the Improvedhand pack is positioned as a value-oriented choice. Many owners mention that the price is right for the quality received.
Because this is not an OEM part, you may want to check the fit and performance after installation. However, based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews, most users find it a reliable and economical alternative to the brand-name filters.
What Owners Say
